It's only natural that the hybrid auto manufacturers would look to gain a larger sales market share by introducing popular features from traditional vehicles. All wheel drive is one such feature that has been included as an option when buying a hybrid.

This makes sense since having all four wheels available for better traction fits right in with the long distances that hybrid cars can travel these days, due to their high mileage. Drivers of these vehicles never really know if they'll end up in a snowstorm, in mud, or off-road somewhere when they're navigating the highways.

The increased traction gives buyers a strong sense of security. Yes, the inclusion of this type of drive train does increase the price somewhat over standard two-wheel drive hybrids. But since buyers of these vehicles are already paying several thousand more to own one, the manufacturers know they're reaching quite an affluent class of motorists.

Some hybrid cars are front wheel drive while others are rear wheel drive. The all wheel drive models have come out from different manufacturers. The price ranges are quite competitive.

They have power steering and brakes, expensive stereo systems, and on board navigation systems. Moreover, with comfortable seating and roomy interiors, some of these vehicles now have all wheel drive. This is a very desirable alternative to traditional vehicles for a substantial portion of the driving population.

All wheel drive is a feature that's very easy to maintain. There's usually no regular maintenance that has to be performed on either of the two drive axles or suspension components. The type of drive train makes steering and handling very smooth. It also benefits acceleration and braking. Therefore, it's not just useful for when you get stuck in snow or mud.
